Feeding Those In Need
Vand Ke Chakna is one of the three main pillars of the teaching of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of the Sikh faith. The term "Vand Ke Chakna" means to share ones wealth with others in the community, to give to charity, to distribute in Langar (free Kitchen) and to generally help others in the community who need help.
We’ve been serving meals at the Gurdwara and to those in need in New Westminster and the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver for many years. We have also been blessed to be a founding partner of Guru Nanak’s Free Kitchen which serves those in need in Vancouver and other parts of the Lower Mainland of B.C.
Taking care of the community around is a fundamental Sikh teaching and we encourage everyone, Sikh or not, young and old to participate in these sort of programs in the Lower Mainland or wherever you are, the need is great in all communities .
To volunteer in any of the initiatives to combat homelessness, please contact with us. Families are encouraged to prepare meals together for those in need and experiences the true meaning of Seva (Selfless Service).
